2009 Home of the Year Contest

Seattle Homes & Lifestyles 2009 Home of the Year Entry Procedures

We invite homeowners, designers, builders and architects to submit their homes for the Seattle Homes & Lifestyles Home of the Year Award. Winners will be published in the November 2009 issue.

Entries must include:

  • A cover letter that briefly describes the home and the homeowners. (Note: Homeowners’ names are required because Seattle Homes & Lifestyles needs their written permission to publish the home. While we prefer to name owners in our articles—after all, it is the people who make a house a home—we can list them as anonymous at the owners’ request.)
     
  • The letter must include details about all appropriate professionals—architect, interior designer and landscape designer—as well as the home’s location, furnishings and plantings.
     
  • Color photographs—JPEGs on a CD (preferred), color copies, 35mm slides, 2 1/4-inch transparencies or 4-by-5-inch transparencies—of ALL appropriate areas. This includes the exterior, outdoor landscape and hardscape, kitchen, living area, dining area, master bedroom, bathroom and any additional structures on the property. Please do not send the images in separate PDF files.
     
  • Photos of other areas of interest (media room, library/study, guest rooms, etc.) Note: Quality of photographs can make a difference in the judges’ decision but professional photographs are not required. Professional photographs must have photo credits.
     
  • The project must not have been published in any national or regional publication prior to the contest publication date. (This includes Seattle Homes & Lifestyles.)
     
  • To be eligible, homes must not be for sale and owners must have no immediate plans to put their home on the market.
     
  • Owners must give permission for the home to be photographed and it must be available for a photo shoot some time in July, August or September 2009.

Each entry must be accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope, or materials will not be returned. (Materials will be handled with care; however, Seattle Homes & Lifestyles assumes no responsibility for lost or damaged materials. Please do not send originals.)
